Tip 80: Timing is Crucial to Good Performance

Timing can often be forgotten when playing by ear as we work out the melody and chords – however it is a crucial part of playing the song as you heard it.

When you are listening to the piece try to count the beat, and note where the chords change and what rhythms are used.

Getting the timing right will tighten up the sound of the song you are playing by ear and make for a more compelling performance.
