Improvisation

Tip 71: Jam With Yourself

Jam with yourself!

If you’ve got no one to play with, make a recording of yourself playing. You could pick a piece you’re working on, or just improvise. Then play back your recording and play your instrument along with yourself.

If you have a book of duets, this is a great way to practise them without having to find another player. If you want to improve your improvisation skills, it’s a fantastic way to practice without worrying about anyone else listening to your mistakes! If you play two instruments, you can use this trick to play both together.
