Tip 50: Major and Minor Chord Sounds

Minor chords are often said to sound ‘sad’.

To really hear the difference between a major and minor chord play a major chord and change it to a minor chord by lowering the middle note by a semitone.

Do this a few times, then try to sing the middle note.

This can be difficult because the first and fifth notes of the chord are more prominent – but pay attention to the note that is changing.
