Tip 30: Use Your Mind’s Ear to Guess Better

When you are trying to work out a melody for the first time, instead of just picking out notes until you hear the right one keeping listening to the song in your mind and singing out the notes slowly and clearly.

Are they going up or down? Is the it moving in small steps or big jumps? How big does the jump sound to you?

Then try to hit the right note.
