Tip 18: Listen to Cover Versions

Whatever piece of music you are currently learning, try to find different examples of it being played.

If it’s a classical piece, there will be lots of different interpretations available, and if it’s pop or jazz it’s likely that some other artist has covered it. Check YouTube for videos – watch every example you find, whether professional or amateur!

Listen carefully and note down the differences between each performance. These could include different instrumentation, different speed, or different style of performance.
